With the game against Oxford City Nomads cancelled, New Bradwell quickly arranged to play Arlesey Reserves, which resulted in a 4-4 draw after they were 2-0 down at half time.

The game kicked off and Jamie Nicholls was first to try and score for the home side but his effort went straight to the keeper.

Ash Farmer came close in the 15th minute but his shot sailed over the bar. Nicholls had another chance to put Bradwell into the lead in the 20th minute but once again the keeper was there to stop him.

Paul Lyon came off in the 21st minute after obtaining an injury and was replaced by Lewis Halford.

Bradwell had their first corner of the game in the 23rd minute. The ball found Nicholls who hit the bar. The ball ricocheted out to Tyrone Taylor who also hit the bar, denying Bradwell the lead yet again.

Billy Lobjoit was fouled in the 27th minute but the referee allowed play to continue, resulting in Dan Green colliding with the defence and Arlesey taking the lead.

Four minutes later Arlesey doubled their lead, Bradwell tried to respond but Nicholls shot went well over the bar.

The home side came back stronger in the second half, with Trey scoring in the 50th minute. Arlesey were quick to react though and scored twice in quick succession making it 4-1.

In the 67th minute Nimi Aji slotted the ball home to start Bradwell’s come back. A cross from Ross Stone in the 75th minute found the head of Nicholls who made it 4-3.

The only yellow card of the game was shown to Arlesey in the 78th minute when Aji was taken down. Billy Lobjoit stepped up to take the free kick but his shot hit the crossbar.

In the closing stages of the game Ash Farmer managed to draw the home side level just before the final whistle.

New Bradwell St. Peter vs Dunstable Town

After last week’s horrendous wet weather New Bradwell St Peter were faced with playing Dunstable Town on the hottest day of the year. Both sides had numerous chances but after 90 minutes the game ended goalless.

It didn’t start off well for Bradwell who were without Donic Sopa and Billy Lobjoit who were stuck in traffic and Tyrone Taylor was away dealing with a family emergency.

And it didn’t get much better for the home side after Steve Flux had to be substituted off after only a few minutes when he injured his knee during a tackle.

Dunstable rattled the woodwork in the 20th minute having the first real shot of the game so far.

Bradwell were quick to react, when they were awarded a free kick three minutes later. Kyle Durcan found the feet of Jamie Nicholls, who had a shot on target, but the outstretched hands of the Dunstable keeper saved it.

With the sun finally sinking in the sky and the temperature becoming cooler the second half got underway.

The away side decided to substitute half their team in the 55th minute to mix things up a bit. But it was Bradwell who kicked it up a gear when the keeper had to make a save deny the home side of the lead.

The Blues came close in the 67th minute but were only able to find the side netting.

Some confusion in the 71st minute saw the lino flag for offside but the referee pointed to the penalty spot. Fortunately the referee changed his mind and went with the lino’s decision.

Dan Green made a great save in the 76th minute pushing the ball round the post to keep the score level.

A penalty appeal from Bradwell was heard in the closing stages of the match but the referee dismissed the idea and blew the final whistle.

New Bradwell St. Peter vs Cranfield

After what feels like forever, pre-season has finally arrived. Despite the miserable weather, New Bradwell St. Peter were able to win 5-4 last night against Cranfield, after being 4-1 down after 40 minutes.

Cranfield kicked off ten minutes early after both teams agreed to get the game under way. It was the home side that had the first chance of the game when Jamie Sylvester found the head off Tyrone Taylor but his effort went over the bar.

The away side were quick to react and managed to get their first goal in the 5th minute when they noticed Joel Harefield off his line. Bradwell fought hard to try and get an equaliser with both Ross Stone and Billy Lobjoit going for goal but couldn’t quiet find the target.

Once again Cranfield took advantage off Harefield being off his line in the 21st minute and made it 2-0. A great ball in by Lobjoit set Jamie Nicholls up well but he fired the ball straight into the keeper’s hands.

An offside Donic Sopa managed to score in the 27th minute but the goal was disallowed. With only ten minutes left till half time Bradwell finally found the back of the net. A corner from Stone found Nicholls who made it 2-1.

Taylor nearly made it all square in the 36th minute but his headed attempt went just wide of the post. Harefield did well in the 43rd minute stopping three shots on the trot, but the ball rebounded back out to Cranfield and they made it 3-1.

It all happened in the closing stages of the first half. A great lob from Cranfield, which Harefield could never have stopped, put them 4-1 in the lead but Bradwell bit back, with Nicholls getting his second goal of the game.

The second half was just as action packed as the first and Lobjoit was able to make it 4-3 in the 75th minute when Bradwell were awarded a penalty.

An 85th minute free kick was awarded to the home side and Paul Lyon swung the ball into the back of the net to draw the sides level. With only minutes left on the clock Oluwanimilo Ajigbolamu found Michael Munday who scored the winning goal.

I’m back

Hannah.Sellman

It’s been a while since I posted anything on here and you might be wondering why? Well university is finally finished and I graduate in October with 67% (2:1 aka merit). I’m over the moon that I managed to do so well considering the course was so horrendously run…thankfully they gave me £300 in compensation for that. So what’s been happening since I last posted well… Leighton Town were relegated into the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division and I managed to land nicely on my feet after a week away in Gran Canaria, when I was offered a position at New Bradwell St. Peter writing match reports, taking photos and producing videos.

From now on this blog will very much be based around the club I now work for, just so that I have somewhere to show case the work I am doing. I have been to three of their pre-season friendlies so far so photos and match reports will be posted shortly.
